HARDNESS Tungsten is one of the hardest metals. In this context, hardness is measured by the difficulty to purposely SCRATCH the material. But because it is so hard it is actually less shatter resistant. As with any PLATED, the plating will eventually wear off. If you are worried about your ring changing color or wearing off, WE DO NOT recommend purchasing a PLATED ring. There is no way to predict the rate at which the plating will wear off. From experience, color can wear off in as little as a week on some people, and on others it can last seven or eight months to a full year. It all depends on body chemistry and lifestyle, and is not a defect of the ring.
